After a 5 week stint on the road with Les Miserables followed by a 5 week lay off, I've just returned to the road for at least 8 months of non-stop touring. I'll be playing viola, one of a 14 piece pit orchestra. We visit a new city nearly every week, with occasional stays of 2-3 weeks. Yesterday in DC I subbed in playing concertmaster for Will Curry in the matinee show while he was busy conducting. It was a wonderful experience to play at the Kennedy Center and the resident orchestra was great to work with. This was my first visit to the Kennedy Center an
d it did not disappoint. After my Kennedy Center debut, I met up with an old friend, Alex, for dinner at Circa followed by the Tokyo String Quartet playing upstairs at the KC. The last time I heard Tokyo was a few months ago in Sapporo, Japan, and it was great to hear them again. Their opening Mozart K. 387 was a great opener and the highlight of the evening for me.
